01: Fried Rice

Fried rice is a dish made from what remains.

Fried rice exists in countless forms across Asia. While ingredients and techniques vary from place to place, each version begins with a similar gesture: transforming what remains into something new.

The Fried Rice collection draws from five fried rice traditions—Sinangag, Yangzhou, Kimchi, Phad Kao, and Nasi Goreng—and reinterprets them as contemporary objects.

Each necklace is hand-knotted from rice pearls, silk thread, and semi-precious stones. Together, the works trace how recipes travel, adapt, and endure. They reflect the ways culture is carried through everyday practices: cooked in kitchens, shared at tables, and passed between generations.

The collection approaches fried rice not only as a dish, but as a record of movement, resourcefulness, and belonging.

Presented as contemporary objects and future heirlooms.
